Prayer and Meditation

On Wednesday evening, August 20th, a group of us gathered in the Fireside Room for a special time of prayer and meditation. The warm and quiet space made it the perfect setting to slow down, breathe, and open ourselves to God’s presence.

Together we explored three ancient yet accessible practices of prayer:

  • Breath Prayer – a simple way of praying with our breath, allowing the rhythm of breathing in and out to remind us of God’s closeness.

  • Lectio Divina – a prayerful reading of Scripture, listening not just for information but for the word or phrase that speaks to the heart.

  • The Examen – a practice of reflecting back on the day, noticing moments of joy and struggle, and becoming aware of God’s activity in our lives.

Each of these practices gave us a different entry point into prayer, inviting us to encounter God not as a task to complete but as a gift to receive. The evening was meaningful, reflective, and for many, a refreshing pause in the midst of busy lives.

At the end of our time together, everyone went home with a packet of resources to help continue these practices personally. If you’d like to try them yourself or revisit what we learned, you can access the packet here (or below):

We hope to offer more gatherings like this in the future. Until then, may these practices bring peace, clarity, and a deeper sense of God’s nearness in your daily life.

This gathering was part of our WISE initiative.
