More Light: The 2025 Stewardship Letter
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”
—Matthew 5:14-16
Dear church family,
Do you have any fears? I’ll admit, I have a deep fear of the dark. As children, we are often comforted by parents who say there’s nothing in the dark that can hurt us—no monsters hiding in the closet. That’s a reassuring thought when you’re young. But as parents or caregivers, it can get harder. Who checks your closet for scary monsters?
This reflection led me to think about light and courage. It’s easy to be courageous in the light, isn’t it? But in those dark places, at least for me, that’s when I must seek God’s light and ask God to shine brightly.
First Congregational Church of Ramona is a powerful beacon of light for many people. Our Food Distribution helps families who might otherwise face empty cupboards. Hosting the Open Door Monday meals offers nourishment along with the warmth of fellowship. Our WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged) initiative for mental health has helped to remove stigma from mental health challenges. The Ramona Youth Collaborative shines brightly for young people who may feel surrounded by darkness. Our Music Ministry brings light into our congregation every week—through Emmaus Road, the Bell Choir, the Chancel Choir, and our Cantatas. Our Care Ministries Board provides hope and companionship to people who are going through difficult times. The Children’s Choir helps our youngest voices spread light through song.

Please take some time to reflect on the light this church has brought into your life. Consider what light you would like to see shine more brightly—and how you might help make that happen. Pray about stepping out in courage by giving a little more this year, so FCC Ramona can continue to be a shining beacon of hope for Ramona and beyond.
You may have gotten a pledge card in the mail. Consider filling it out and sending it back to the church (PO Box 248) or bringing it to worship with you on November 23rd. When you’re ready, please submit your pledge online through this link: https://forms.gle/9TqqD5ayGP7R2nNC7. Our Trustees would appreciate receiving your pledge before the end of November. Stewardship Sunday is November 23rd, and those who submit their pledge by then will receive a special gift. We will also take pledge cards anytime after the deadline!
If you prefer to give your offering online, the same link and QR code below allow you to set up recurring donations as well.
Thank you for being part of this light.
Blessings to you,
Karen Mallonee
